Dvůr Králové nad Labem is home for cca 17 thousand inhibitants, its visitors offers a lot of historical, cultural and artistical monuments. With reach history, which trenches on somewhere to year 1200 when according to the historics was grounded a settlement which can be understand as a foregoer of today-town, you can meet on many places. Directly in downtown you can see a plenty of monuments like church sv. Jana Křtitele, building of the old town hall, fragments of the town fortification with tower (at Šindelářská street) which was in the middle ages used as a public round-house and in these days performes the last saved tower of the former four towers of the town fortification, and other monuments. 

A visit of ZOO which belongs to the most important on the quantity and range of harboured animals in Europe, is one of many things you cannot certainly leave out when visiting Dvůr Králové nad Labem. ZOO is specialized primarily in african animals breeding, firstly ungulates like giraffes, zebras, antelopes, rhinoceroses, etc. . Naturally there is no misery even in other kinds of animals like birds, fish and mammalia from all quarters of planet. Visit specialized pavilons „ World of birds“ and „Water world“ and you’ll see … ZOO has open yearlong, in sommer time you can go a round on the open coach across safari straight among african ungulates, birds and also other animals. Below ZOO in areal of restaurant „U Rudolfa III.“ Can be found African safari museum for its seting ing. Josef Wágner gave impulsion and thanks to his expeditions to Africa within had been doing a catch of wild animals for ZOO, gathered a collection of african articles, aboriginal weapons and foto-documentation from the „black continent“. This unique collection can be seen right here. In the same building can be found also Veteran car museum with exposition of historical and sports cars and curios from car world.

Also the town museum situated in baroque yard Kohoutův dvůr performes frequent object of visitor’s haunt and has permanent exposition ready – directed to the town history wit its model, samples of furniture, clocks, military articles, musical instruments, guild articles and porcelain.

A visit of church Sv. Jana Křtitele which is one of town dominants belongs among other tourist attraction. Take your chance to watch the town from the steeple. The tower height makes 64 m, is offered to the public and there is also a nice view of the scene from its gallery (naturally only when good visibility). Mr. Vaclav Hanka found Manuscript of the town Dvůr Králové nad Labem (Rukopis Králevodvorský)in the vault of the tower in the year 1817. Next by the enter you can see the oldest archaeological find in Dvůr Králové nad Labem which was found by council Antonin Schulz. It’s about a torso of Romanic chevet from the end of 12th century.

Town information centre gives also information about traffic relations, sport and cultural events in the town and is situated right on the square T.G.M. at arcade next to town hall. Kuks
Beautiful castle and monument reservation Kuks and Betlem have every year thousands visitors. 12 km faraway from Dvůr Králové nad Labem. The founder of Kuks was F.A.Špork in year 1694. There were local mineral headwaters as a first impuls for foundation. Step by step was built chapel, church, pharmacy, hospital, castle, House of philosophers, library, courthouse, public houses, windmill, wooden theatre, health resort, etc. . Kuks became the centre of Špork’s domains and very popular place for then nobiliary community. In year 1740 was a part of Kuks destroyed by blaze. Up to this day only some health houses and hospital buildings with church and water cascades-scale preserved. Line-up of artists was working on the decor of Kuks, especially Matyáš Bernard Braun which took sculpture decoration for his job. The famous production is performed by his cycle of sculptures „Virtues“ and „Vices“. Betlém then performes Braun’s gallery of sculptures cuted into blocs right in wood.

Dam Les Kralovstvi
Probably the most beautiful dam on the Labe river which was finished in year 1919. Its objective is above all protect against floods and output electricity in close hydro-electric power plant. Since 1964 is this dam under protection as a technical monument.

Zvicina
From the near hill Zvičina (671 m.a.s.l) you can see when good visibility as far as quarter of Bohemia and also panorama of the highest Bohemian mountains – Krkonoše. Zvičina used to be a point of campfires and wakes but also today is haunted beauty spot. It was visited by such a big names as Karel Jaromír Erben, Karel Václav Rais, Jaroslav Vrchlický, Václav Štech, Ignát Hermann či Karel Hynek Mácha were. Today the brae of Zvičina in plenty visited by sportsmen for its conditions for skiing or paragliding.

Bila Tremesna
The last stay of Jan Amos Komensky in 1628 before he left the castle in Horni Branna for exil in Polish Lesno and so he left his homeland for forever.
